There are plenty of opportunities for indoor and outdoor recreation in this area. Cottonwood Butte, our downhill ski course, is 10 miles away. In Cottonwood, one can enjoy tennis, softball, basketball and picnics in the city park. Visit the museum at St. Gertrude's, the Idaho County Fair, and Buggy Whip softball tournaments in July. There is also a trap club located one mile from the city limits. Cottonwood also offers year round bowling lanes and is located near Main Street.Individual or guided hunting is available for big game in nearby forests. Fishing for trout and steelhead is available on any of the nationally famous rivers and lakes. There are many historic drives and scenic areas where elk, deer, and other wild game may be seen. Information about these may be found locally. Camping, hiking, and backpacking is near in many campgrounds. Boating is also available on nearly rivers and lakes. Cross country and downhill skiing enthusiasts do not have to travel far to reach favorite skiing areas.
